One of the principal objectives of the Fellowship Open is to encourage youngsters to aspire to their dreams and particularly consider careers in business. The Fellowship Open makes a real outreach effort through a series of mentoring programs. The entire Fellowship Open events revolve around young people. A separate program is held for young people with business and civic leaders the day of the golf event which is designed to give young people a sense of inspiration and hope as to what they can achieve. Last year's event was an absolute thrill for the youngsters and they had a chance to meet and discuss their careers with business and civic leaders in the community.

Each of the youngsters associated with the event is given a business periodical from a major Wisconsin company to study and learn more about it along with an annual subscription to Black Enterprise magazine. One of the youngsters is selected to attend the national Black Enterprise Entrepreneurial Conference and then asked to share that experience with other youngsters. This is designed for the youngsters to realize that there are successful entrepreneurs and business people that can serve as role models. This year's student was Andrew Ellis who in fact addressed the luncheon event last year.

Finally, a group of minority professionals who are involved in major companies in Milwaukee holds a business seminar for youngsters in the fall in an effort to let kids know more about the opportunities in business, the challenges -- and that it can be achieved. The exposure to both business leaders and young professionals provides a unique experience
for the youngsters."
